Worker Overview

Workers at Pictor are GPU providers, powering the limitless computing capabilities that define Pictor Network.

Let’s take a closer look at who they really are, the jobs they take on, and why joining Pictor as a Worker is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!

Who are the Workers?

Workers are the supply-side participants of the Pictor Network, renting out their GPU computing resources to the network to perform the requested 3D rendering and AI upscaling tasks and earn PICTOR tokens. A worker can be an individual, studio, render farm, data center, tech company, etc.

There are no geographical restrictions and extensive knowledge of 3D graphics is required. The only requirement to join the Pictor is that your devices have computing power that meets the network’s specifications.

How does the Worker work?

  • Joining the Network: Workers join the Pictor by registering on the Pictor Cloud and installing the Pictor Worker app on their machines. Once the Worker app is installed, it integrates the GPU(s) into the Pictor Network, making Workers available for rendering tasks.

  • Rendering Tasks: Workers process the rendering tasks assigned to them. The rendering process is monitored to ensure quality and performance standards are met.

  • Rewards: Workers are rewarded with $Pictor tokens after successfully completing rendering tasks. These tokens can be used within the network or exchanged for other cryptocurrencies or fiat money.

Worker Statuses

The status of the Worker is essential for effective task management and activity monitoring within the Pictor network.

Online

Online status indicates that the GPU node is currently active and available to receive and perform rendering tasks.

Offline

Offline status indicates the Worker is currently unavailable for any tasks.

Processing

Processing status indicates that the Worker has been assigned to a job and is processing the assigned job.

Blocked

Blocked status indicates that our network detects unauthorized GPU utilization that doesn’t meet our Checker checks’ standards. To ensure the rendering process quality, your GPU is fully dedicated (100%) to processing assigned rendering jobs.

Blocked status occurs in a few cases, but mainly:

  • Excessive GPU utilization: Playing games, or running other GPU-intensive tasks other than the ones required by the Pictor.

  • Mining detection: Any mining activities during the job processing will result in an automatic ban.

Unsupported

Unsupported status indicates that your GPU is currently not supported on the Pictor Network. This could be due to the incompatibility with the hardware and software requirements of the network at this moment.

For more information on the hardware, software requirements, and the supported GPUs, please check here.

Terminated

Terminated status indicates that your GPU node was interrupted or stopped. This can occur for several reasons such as:

  • Your device or GPU entering sleep or hibernation mode

  • Failure of your device, driver, or operating system.

  • Automatic updates.

In such cases, your Worker’s activity is halted, and you may need to restart or resolve the underlying issue to continue participating in Pictor.
